Superhero Signs

Design a safety sign for young children (7 years and below). Danger signs on substations and other electrical equipment have words on them that younger children can’t read and they might not understand the danger. Design a sign using pictures to help them understand.

Cautionary Comic Strips

Using www.pixton.com, create a safety comic strip that highlights 5 electrical hazards around the home. You can use Ollie and Sparky as your main characters (download here) or design your own.  

Talking Avatars

Create a ‘voki’ talking avatar using www.voki.com to warn others about:

• The dangers of substations when people break in and steal from them
• The dangers of hitting power lines with machines or fishing rods

Safety Podcast

Write and record a safety advert with sound effects that will help children and adults recognise the ‘Danger of Death’ warning sign and understand how to stay safe when they see it. You might want to use Audacity to do this. You could even use a phone and broadcast your creation using ipadio.

Create a presentation on electrical safety that will keep children aged 11 years and under interested and safe. Things you might want to include:

• Power stations
• Overhead power lines
• Substations
• Underground cables
• Danger signs
• Fishing safely
• Flying kites safely
• Playing safely near substations
